Hello Summer: Pre-Season Notes

Welcome to the 2021 Season!

We hope you’re all excited for summer - we certainly are.  We wanted to take a moment to go over a few new things at the club and some temporary changes that you’ll see at the lake this year.

1.  THE CLUBHOUSE.   While the Building Committee continues to evaluate the best path forward with the repair of the clubhouse foundation, along with potential changes and improvements, the Executive Committee has decided to restrict access to certain portions of the clubhouse for this year.  This decision was made out of an “abundance of caution” approach and after several consultations with contractors, engineers and local building officials.  The decision was not made lightly.  We hope the membership will understand that the health of our clubhouse as well as the safety of our membership is paramount.

Signage will clearly indicate where access is restricted.  The restricted areas include both upstairs and downstairs areas of the main clubhouse, both upstairs and downstairs porches, and the indoor “lifeguard area”. The restrooms, kitchen and men’s locker room are now open.

To help with the loss of interior space we have temporarily re-purposed the boathouse to be a shaded sitting area, and we will put up the cabana for changing, as the women’s changing room will be inaccessible.

2. BOATS:  Because of the boathouse repurposing, we will only have a limited number of slots available for member rentals this season. 16 racks - four of which are dedicated to stand-up paddle boards.  Another email will follow shortly for those who hope to have their boats stored at the lake this year. ZEBRA MUSSEL REMINDER: any craft that has been in another body of fresh water must be washed with bleach before going into Cream Hill Lake.

2. TENTS:  Before some of the larger club events you’ll notice that wedding-style tents will be put up (and then taken down).  These will allow us to have events scheduled rain or shine, and will hopefully add to the festive atmosphere of some events.

3: EVENTS:  Making up for lost time last year when we were unable to host group events - we’ve worked to create an exciting, full roster of entertainment events for 2021.  A save the date email will be sent shortly - and specific fliers with event sign-up information, meal pricing etc. will follow soon after.

If you have any questions about the above - or any other questions at all just respond to this email… but PLEASE don’t reply all!

May 15 Clean-Up

posted May 13, 2021, 11:50 AM by Anne Kosciusko   [ updated May 13, 2021, 12:04 PM ]

We are looking for some help at CHLA this weekend doing some clean up. We plan to start at 10:00 am, and will be focusing on the following areas:

Gardening and brush work,

Cleaning and removing storage items from the boathouse

Cleaning, evaluating and organizing boats.

A fair amount of sign painting!

COVID wise, almost all the work is outside work - so we won’t be enforcing social distancing and people should wear masks according to their own comfort.

Gardening tools like rakes, spades etc. are welcome as are clothes that can get paint on them without anxiety!
