Tennis Rules

  1. A sign-up sheet for the following day will be posted by the lifeguards in the clubhouse at 4:00 p.m. Members may sign up only for themselves or their game-mates. Members may make telephone reservations after 4:15 p.m. if someone is there to answer the phone. The intent of this rule is that members who come to the clubhouse to sign up between 4:00 and 4:15 have precedence over all others.

  2. Members may sign up for one hour to play singles or one and a half hours for doubles. On weekends and holidays member families may reserve only one clay court and one all-weather court per day.

  3. Adults have priority on weekends and holidays.

  4. Guests must be signed up on tennis sheets before play and must be playing with at least one member.

  5. The clay courts must be swept and the lines brushed after each use, even at the end of the day. Players should allow the last five minutes of their time for this.

  6. Tennis sneakers are required on all the courts; hard shoes and bare feet are not permitted.

  7. No one is permitted to play on the courts when they are wet or before the clay courts have been rolled in the morning (usually by 8:00 a.m.).

  8. The person hired to roll and brush the clay courts every morning is responsible only to the chairman of the Tennis Committee. If there are any problems, members should speak to the Chairman.

  9. Precedence is given to tournament matches and playing time may be extended to finish a match.

  10. Tennis lessons will be on Court 4 only.

  11. No one should use the courts for anything other than tennis, except basketball when the courts are not in use
