Building and Grounds

Develop and follow a maintenance checklist and associated schedule. This includes the following: driveway maintenance, beach maintenance, yearly building maintenance, readying the grounds for each season: putting out and taking in rafts, tables, benches, and ladders; servicing the tennis roller, installing the water cooler, checking fire extinguishers and emergency lighting, gutter cleaning.
Weekly check-in with staff to make adjustments to the checklist for the upcoming week.
Provide the Executive Committee yearly with a list of repairs needed. The list should be completed by November 1.
Coordinate Clean-Up Day with chair of House Operations.
Provide the Executive Committee with a list of suggested contractors and cost estimates for the following: lawn care, driveway maintenance, repairs to the building or grounds, and tennis court maintenance and repairs.
Hire approved contractors and supervise their work.
Develop a 5-year capital plan for major improvements and submit to the Executive Committee.
Give a report to the membership at the Preliminary Meeting and the Annual Meeting each year.
Nominating

Prepares a slate of Officers and Executive Committee Members.
Presents the slate at the Preliminary Meeting.
Must have at least 5 members, one of whom is a member of the Executive Committee.
Give a report to the membership at the Preliminary Meeting and the Annual Meeting.
Membership
Susie Ott, Chair

Gathers membership nomination letters then reviews and acts upon applications for membership during the spring months. Submits completed and approved applications to the Secretary.
Presents a Membership Committee report at the Preliminary Meeting and the Annual Meeting.
May not sponsor or second nominations for membership.
Should meet membership nominees as part of the application process.
Must have at least 5 members on the committee.
Gives a report to the membership at the Preliminary Meeting and the Annual Meeting.
Helps monitor guest usage and non-member use of CHLA.
Waterfront
Gordon Senzer, Chair
Lory Bevans, Annette Doskow, Annie Kosciusko, Katherine Scoville,
Coordinates the hiring of lifeguards with the Executive Committee, which includes advertising for and interviewing potential candidates.
Ensures all lifeguards are properly certified before each season, and organizes recertification training if necessary.
Creates and manages policies for waterfront safety and operations, and communicates these policies to the lifeguard staff, members, and associates. Periodically assesses the effectiveness of these policies and their implementation, taking corrective action as needed.
Develops a schedule for the lifeguards.
Orients lifeguards prior to the season opening.
Develops an annual budget for equipment related to waterfront safety and operations including; equipment, docks, rafts. The list of needed supplies for rescue, first aid, and waterfront fun and safety is sent to the Executive Committee for review and purchase.
Supervises lifeguards, and checks in with them on a daily basis.
Serves as a liaison for members who have questions about waterfront safety and operations.
Evaluates lifeguards mid season and communicate feedback to lifeguards and Executive Committee members
Oversees end of season clean-up of the staff office, and stores equipment for winter.
Reviews and recommends changes to the waterfront rules as necessary.
Coordinates with Building and Grounds for any waterfront needs and waterfront hazard remediation.
Gives a report to the membership at the Preliminary Meeting and the Annual Meeting.
Tennis
Kate Green, Chair and Bill McClane Vice-Chair

Plans and oversees the overall tennis programming at CHLA (lessons, curated doubles, clinics, various mini tournaments events)
Runs the annual end-of-summer tennis tournament and various smaller Round Robins, Mixers, and Inter-clubs throughout the season. Choose and procure unique, fun, tasteful trophies for the final tournament.
Coordinates with Building and Grounds for the maintenance and repair of the courts.
Coordinates volunteers for the opening and closing of the courts each season (nets, windscreens, awning)
Coordinates with the Entertainment Committee for refreshments at tennis events.
Manages the reservation program.
Reviews the tennis rules and makes recommendations for changes.
Gives a report to the membership at the Preliminary Meeting and the Annual Meeting.
Entertainment

Plans and oversees the social, culinary and educational programming at CHLA.
Plans a schedule of events in coordination with the Executive Committee, the Waterfront Committee, and the Tennis Committee.
Organizes paid staff or volunteers to support each event.
Maintains a tent committee to erect the event tents.
Purchases supplies for events.
Coordinates sign up for events with the Secretary/Treasurer.
Gives a report to the membership at the Preliminary Meeting and the Annual Meeting.
House Operations
Bill McClane, Chair
Hires and supervises the housekeeper and/or other staff to maintain the building’s cleanliness.
Maintains the Lost and Found and dispose of unclaimed items on a regular basis.
Ensures the supply closet is stocked with cleaning implements and supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, and soap.
Maintains the ping pong table and supply of nets, balls, and paddles.
Coordinates Clean-Up day with the Chairman of Building and Grounds.
Maintains bulletin boards.
Monitors the cleanliness of the kitchen and refrigerator, and ensures that the building is in order on days that the housekeeper is scheduled to clean.
Makes recommendations to the Executive Committee for purchase of Clubhouse items or furnishings.
Gives a report to the membership at the Preliminary Meeting and the Annual Meeting.
Finance
Caspar Luard, Chair

Drafts an annual operating budget for the Association each year, for consideration and approval by the Executive Committee.
Considers the future financial needs of the Association, both operating and capital in nature, and recommends plans to the Executive Committee to meet those needs.
