CHLA Guest Fees and Rules
Members and Emeritus Members may extend the use of the facilities to their guests in compliance with the following rules:
The Fees for Guests are as follows:
Daily Guests:
Adult: $8.50
Child 21 and younger: $3.00
Weekly Guest Card:
Family: $85.00
Individual: $45.00
Child 21 and younger: $30.00
Summer Guest card:
Family: $850.00
Individual: $450.00
Child 21 and younger: $200.00
Annual Guests:
Family or Individual: $1200.00. ($200 of this fee will be credited to your initiation fee upon joining the membership.)
(Amount over the membership dues will be applied to the initiation fee at the time full membership is attained)
There are four types of guests: Daily Guests, Weekly Guests (with Guest Cards), Summer Guests (with Guest Cards), and Annual Guests.
Daily Guests are persons who are guests of a Member of the Association or an Emeritus Member and must be signed in by the Member or the Emeritus Member each day with the Lifeguards This includes guests that use any part of the facilities (tennis, waterfront, picnicking, etc.).
Daily guests shall not be extended the use of the facilities of the Association for more than sixteen days in any one year. (This limitation shall not apply to a member's or Emeritus Member's children aged 26 and older and their partners, children, and other descendants who may sign in with the Lifeguards themselves.)
Weekly Guests are persons who are guests of a Member of the Association or an Emeritus Member and are residing with the Member or Emeritus Member as part of his or her personal household, but are not in the Member's or Emeritus Member's employ. Application for a Weekly Guest Card shall be made to the Secretary - Treasurer via email and will include the name of the guests and the beginning and ending dates of the weeks for which the application was made.
Weekly Guests shall not be extended the use of the facilities of the Association for more than 16 days in any one year. (This limitation shall not apply to a member's or Emeritus Member's children aged 26 and older and their partners, children, and other descendants who may sign in with the Lifeguards themselves.)
Weekly Guest Cards may be issued to an individual or to a family. A family shall be deemed to include not more than two adults, together with their unmarried children under the age of 26 years, all of whom reside together. Weekly Guests should should register as such with the Lifeguards.
Summer Guests are persons who are guests of a member of the Association or an Emeritus Member and are residing with the Member or Emeritus Member as part of his or her household (but are not in the Member's or Emeritus Member's employ). Members and Emeritus Members shall file an application with the Secretary - Treasurer via email, including the names of all family members in the case of a Summer Guest Card. Upon approval of the application by the Membership Committee the Secretary shall notify the Member or Emeritus Member of the guest fee due and upon payment of the fee, shall issue a Guest Card.
Summer Guest card(s) may be issued to an individual or to a family. A family shall be deemed to include not more than two adults, together with their unmarried children under the age of 26 years, all of whom reside together. Summer Guests will be listed on the membership list.
Annual Guests are seasonal memberships offered to persons on the waiting list, member’s children who are 26 year old and older, and children of Emeritus members who are 26 years old and older.
Annual Guest Eligibility:
Persons who have been accepted to the waiting list for full membership, and are residing in the town of Cornwall, as defined in Article 3.2 of the CHLA bylaws: "’Dwelling in Cornwall’ shall mean that at least one member of the membership is a full-time Cornwall resident, or owns a dwelling in Cornwall for personal use, or physically occupies a dwelling in Cornwall for at least 60 days during the calendar year.”
Adult Children of Members, age 26 and older, who reside in Cornwall as defined in Article 3.2 of the CHLA Bylaws (see above), but do not reside in the member’s household.
Adult children of Emeritus Members, age 26 and older, who do not reside in the member’s household, and reside in Cornwall, as defined in Article 3.2 of the CHLA bylaws (see above).
Annual Guests may attend or participate in any CHLA event. Annual Guests may not serve as a chair of a committee, and do not have voting privileges. Annual Members may bring daily guests in accordance with these Guest Rules.
Babies not walking are free.
Babysitters are admitted free of charge.
A copy of the Guest Rules shall be kept by the Lifeguards in the sign-in book for guests and shall be posted in the Clubhouse.
Adult children of Members and Children of Emeritus Members, age 26 and older, who use CHLA must either be signed in as a daily guest at each visit OR become an Annual Guest, or will be considered in violation of these guest rules.
Children of members, age 18 and older, who reside with the member, may sign in guests.
Members and Emeritus Members who violate these Guest Rules shall lose their guest admitting privileges and shall be subject to suspension for serious or repeated offenses at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
Members should report persons they believe to be unauthorized guests to the Lifeguards who in turn shall take up the matter promptly with the Executive Committee. Unauthorized guests will be asked to leave the premises and may not be admitted as guests for the remainder of the season. Unauthorized guests who are on the waiting list for admission to the Association will be moved to the end of the waiting list.
Addendum
An Extended Family Unit Membership is available for Member’s children, aged 26 and older, who are residing with the member. Please contact the President or Secretary to obtain this membership.
From the Bylaws:
3.4. The privileges of the Association, subject to the conditions below, shall be extended to members' children 25 years of age or under and, at the discretion of the member(s), to an "extended family unit" which may include such individuals as a member's children over the age of 25, and their spouses, children, and other descendants. All such persons shall be identified to the Secretary of the Association. Individuals to whom such privileges are extended
a) shall dwell with the member when in Cornwall,
b) may, collectively for the "extended family unit," if it includes individuals over the age of 25, exercise one additional vote at meetings of the Association beyond those of the member(s) comprising the underlying membership, and
c) may not hold elective office, chair committees, or serve on the Executive, Membership or Nominating committees established in these bylaws.
6.1. The annual membership dues of the Association shall be as follows.
a) Basic Dues (payable by each membership) - $850.00, until changed by the membership from time to time.
b) Extended Family Unit Dues (payable by a membership for each person 26 years or older included in the membership's extended family unit) - 1/4 the Basic Dues.
